Papers and posters

Current female Undergraduate, MPhil/MSc, PhD/DPhil students, RAs and PostDocs are encouraged to submit short abstracts (up to 1 page) for presentations or posters on their topic of research. Posters are solicited for research related to any aspect of Computer Science. Abstracts should be sent to oxbridge.women.2018@gmail.com and also include the name, affiliation and position of the applicant. The deadline for submission is 26th of January 2018.

Presentations will be 10 minutes long, followed by 3 minutes questions and discussion. Posters can be up to size A1. Each presentation and poster abstract will be reviewed by members of the Technical Committee. Rejected presentations will still be offered a poster slot. There are no proceedings for the conference, and hence presentations and posters can be under submission for other conferences or workshops.

Only members of Cambridge Computer Laboratory and Oxford Computer science department are invited to submit an abstract for a presentation, but we welcome posters and lightning talks from female researchers in related fields.

Lightning talks

Lightning talks are short one-minute talks, also known as "minute madness", presenting early research ideas, work in progress as well as completed work, in a short and concise way (a past example).

Undergraduate and MPhil/MSc students are especially encouraged to apply. Undergraduates will be assisted by a mentor to help them prepare the lightning talk. The topic of the talk can be for example, a past CS project (e.g. part IB project) or a project done during an internship. To apply for a lightning talk click here.

We hope that you will join us for this wonderful conference, which will help promote research and create connections between female computer scientists in Cambridge and Oxford!
