We're on a mission to bring patients and their healthcare teams together, to make patients healthier and the healthcare workforce happier.

Currently, we let GP practices communicate with their patients, team and other organisations. We’ve grown from being used in a handful of organisations at the beginning of 2018, to now being in over 2,200 practices that send over 42,000 messages a day to patients – improving care and saving staff over half an hour each day.

  • Cydar Contact: Fiona Kinghorn

Cydar was founded in March 2012 by Tom Carrell, a leading endovascular surgeon and Graeme Penney, a 2D-3D imaging expert. Our software automatically matches a patient’s pre-operative CT scan to live real time X-ray images during surgery, accurately overlaying 3D soft tissue anatomy in the form of a 3D ‘satnav for surgeons’.

The system uses GPU-based image processing algorithms and cloud-based high-performance computing to track the patient throughout a procedure, immediately recognising and responding to patient movement and postural differences.

The technology, targeted initially at endovascular surgery, is currently undergoing multi-centre clinical trials and has been used successfully in over 180 procedures. EU and FDA regulatory approval is expected in Q3 2015 on completion of the clinical trials. The company currently employs 9 people, and is based in Barrington, a short distance from Cambridge.

  • Faraday Predictive Ltd Contact: Geoff Walker

Faraday Predictive Ltd are a small, Cambridge-Based organisation who monitor industrial equipment by simply measuring the voltage and current being drawn by the motor driving the equipment.  By some clever automated analysis of the relationship between voltage and current, we are able to identify developing faults before the equipment fails and provide automated advice on corrective action and when it should be performed, allowing clients to avoid unexpected breakdowns, resulting in significant performance and cost improvements for the client businesses.

This technology involves some sophisticated mathematics and computing.  At present, it sometimes also requires expert human inspection to fully diagnose the problem.   We are working to progressively increase the capability of the automated diagnostics, and thus reduce the proportion of occasions requiring human intervention.

Future developments will involve machine learning, to take advantage of the ever-growing database of equipment behaviour, to refine the diagnostics (what is wrong?) and prognostics (how long have I got before it fails completely?), and provide what can be quite complex information in the most visually appealing, user-friendly format.

Join us and you can have a big influence on our future success.

  • FiveAI Contact:

Our solution involves developing novel technology in the fields of computer vision, multi-agent systems and behavior / intent prediction.

The FiveAI solution will enable safe, cost effective urban mobility for all and we’ll be announcing partnerships to deliver it to consumers in staged deployments across cities and towns as they grow.

We’re always looking for talented computer scientists, data scientists, mathematicians and engineers to join and help us in building the future of mobility. Please see our website for more details of our open positions.

Matrix began in 2014, and currently has over 3 million users in its ecosystem and over 4,000 deployed instances. Created by the former Telephony/Media team from MX Telecom (ex-Cambridge communications startup), most of the core Matrix team is now employed by New Vector - a new startup who provide commercial services for Matrix, including building the open source collaboration app. New work on the horizon includes expanding Matrix to be the de facto communication layer for WebVR, Internet-of-Things data - and anywhere else you need to securely share information in realtime on the Internet!
