  • Arrival Contacts: Nikol Chrenkova and Joe Griston

Arrival is accelerating autonomous and electric vehicle technology, by fusing AI with new forms of automotive engineering. Arrival recently placed 1st in LinkedIn's Hottest UK Startups of 2020, is one of the world's newest Unicorn's and has won numerous design awards for its new standard of zero-emission vehicles and technology products.

Arrival is reinventing the automotive industry with its entirely new approach to the design and assembly of electric vehicles. The company’s new method uses low CapEx, rapidly scalable Microfactories that can be placed anywhere in the world to serve the regions they are located in. These Microfactories, combined with proprietary in-house developed components, materials, and software, enable the production of best in class vehicles that are competitively priced to fossil fuel variants. This transformative approach reduces the costs of production and emissions of shipping, and does not require a massive upfront investment, creating strong unit economics for the whole of Arrival’s product portfolio, including its electric van and bus announced earlier this year.

Cydar was founded in March 2012 by Tom Carrell, a leading endovascular surgeon and Graeme Penney, a 2D-3D imaging expert. Our software automatically matches a patient’s pre-operative CT scan to live real time X-ray images during surgery, accurately overlaying 3D soft tissue anatomy in the form of a 3D ‘satnav for surgeons’. EU and FDA regulatory approval is expected in Q3 2015 on completion of the clinical trials. The company currently employs 9 people, and is based in Barrington, a short distance from Cambridge. Cydar is looking for interns to work with our small development team on self-contained projects aimed at readying the system for initial sales.

  • Faraday Predictive Ltd Contact: Geoff Walker
Faraday Predictive Ltd is a small, Cambridge-based organisation who monitor industrial equipment by simply measuring the voltage and current being drawn by the motor driving the equipment. By some clever automated analysis of the relationship between voltage and current, we are able to identify developing faults before the equipment fails and provide automated advice on corrective action and when it should be performed, allowing clients to avoid unexpected breakdowns, resulting in significant performance and cost improvements for the client businesses.

This technology involves some sophisticated mathematics and computing. At present, it sometimes also requires expert human inspection to fully diagnose the problem. We are working to progressively increase the capability of the automated diagnostics, and thus reduce the proportion of occasions requiring human intervention.

Future developments will involve machine learning, to take advantage of the ever-growing database of equipment behaviour, to refine the diagnostics (what is wrong?) and prognostics (how long have I got before it fails completely?), and provide what can be quite complex information in the most visually appealing, user-friendly format.

Join us and you can have a big influence on our future success.

  • HP UK Development Limited Contact: Frances Derd
HP acquired Bromium on 19 September 2019.  Inspired by the isolation principles of traditional virtualization, our R&D team has created a game-changing technology called micro-virtualization to protect end users against advanced malware. Every task the user performs, such as opening a document or clicking on a link, is isolated in its own micro-VM, with access to just the resources required for that task, and existing just for the life of the task. Protection is thus provided through isolation, without relying on detection, hence reliably defending the user from polymorphic and even zero-day malware.

Our R&D Centre is based in Cambridge and we have both permanent and intern positions available.  We're looking for talented engineers who enjoy working on challenging Systems software problems and you’ll sit in a team which best utilises your specialist skills or interests - whether that’s cross browser development, UI, security or low-level Windows development.
