Computer Science Tripos, Part III, 2022-2023

This Announcement relates to Regulation 22 (Regulations 2021 p.309) of the Computer Science Tripos which is as follows:

22. A candidate for Part III shall offer a combination of units of assessment (which may be written papers, project dissertations, essays, and demonstrations of research training) as duly specified by Notice of the Head of the Department not later than the end of the Easter Term next preceding the examination, save that a candidate may not offer any units of assessment already offered under Regulation 18.

During 2022-23, candidates taking Part III of the Computer Science Tripos are required to undertake the following nine modules of assessed work:

  1. A project report (worth four modules).
    A candidate for Part III shall submit the proposed title of her or his project report to the Head of the Department by 16 November 2022, and shall obtain the approval of the Head of the Department for the title by 2 December 2022. Unless otherwise instructed, two copies of the project report, which shall be computer-printed and shall not exceed 12,000 words in length, shall be submitted by the date published. The word count is defined as the main body of the report and excludes abstract, bibliography, photographs, diagrams and data listings, but includes narrative text in tables, captions, footnotes, and appendices1. The report shall be submitted by the candidate to the Head of the Department so as to arrive not later than 11:00 a.m. on 26 May 2023.
  2. Five taught modules taken from those listed in the Notice published by the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Computer Science and Technology on the modules available for study for the M.Phil. in Advanced Computer Science 2022-2023, save that the Research Skills Programme is not mandatory for Part III candidates. The assessment method for each module shall be as published on Table of Assessment - MPhil in ACS, CST Part III.
