Department of Computer Science and Technology

Virtual Postgraduate Open Days take place across the University of Cambridge from 23 October to 3 November.

These will be of interest to those considering applying for the MPhil in Advanced Computer Science and/or the PhD in Computer Science.

The Open Days are a great opportunity to put questions to admissions staff and academics, explore the Colleges virtually and find out more about courses, the application process and funding opportunities.

During the first week of the Open Days, live subject sessions take place. The Computer Science and Technology Live Subject Session will take place on Thursday 26 October 2023Use this form to book your place. Talks and slides from this session will be available here from 30 October.

MPhil
The one-year MPhil in Advanced Computer Science is a general Masters degree, preparing students for PhD study in Computer Science.

PhD
The PhD is the primary research degree that can be taken here in the Department. It is a three-year programme of individual research on a topic agreed by the student and the Department, under the guidance of a staff member as the student's supervisor. There is no compulsory coursework, and students are expected to complete the substance of their research by the end of their third year, submitting their thesis then or within a few months.
