Wearable devices that enable cardiac monitoring are becoming widely available and could be used to assess cardiovascular health status and risk assessment for anyone, anywhere and at any time. This talk provides an overview of our work on assessing the potential of using wearable-derived cardiac signals to predict current health status and future cardiovascular events in the general population. We will present several applications based on the use of wearable-format electrocardiograms, wearable-derived long-term heart rate monitoring and remote physical tests in population-based studies. Strengths and limitations of these approaches will be discussed as well as future directions.
