Department of Computer Science and Technology

  • Research Strategy Manager

I lead the Research Strategy Team in the Department of Computer Science and Technology, helping support academics, researchers and students engage with organisations outside the Department and apply for research funding.

The team manages the running of the Cambridge Ring, our alumni organisation as well as the Supporters' Club, a group of companies who support the Department's research and teaching and benefit from being able to participate in student recruitment events.

We support members of the Department to apply for research funding, helping them to find suitable funding opportunities, engage with collaborators and review funding applications. The team also promotes the work of the members of the Department, through a number of communication channels, as well as by running regular showcase events.

We are always keen to hear from companies or other organisations who would like to work with us  - there are a number of different ways of collaborating with our academics and students, ranging from supporting small student projects, to much bigger long-term partnerships. If this is something which is of interest please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Biography

Prior to joining the Department, I spent four years working in a knowledge transfer role in the Department of Engineering, focusing on the Institute for Manufacturing and Information Engineering. I was also responsible for starting many of the activities the Department of Engineering has in agri-tech, and still work closely with people across the University to increase research in this sector.

Before working in the University I worked in the semiconductor industry, initially working as an engineer before moving into strategic marketing roles, most recently at Atmel (now Microchip) and CSR (now Qualcomm).

I have a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Science from the Department of Engineering in Cambridge and a diploma in marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing. In 2019 I completed the Advance HE Aurora Women's Leadership Development Programme.
