Department of Computer Science and Technology

We're getting ready to host the 2025 Oxbridge Women in Computer Science Conference here in Cambridge this May.

This annual event is jointly organised by our own Women@CL initiative – which helps to support women and non-binary people in computing research – and by the OxWocs network. Participants from other UK universities are also invited to attend.

The one-day Oxbridge Women in Computer Science Conference 2025 will take place on Saturday 3rd May here in the Department of Computer Science and Technology. On the day, there will be keynote speakers, oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, and more.

The keynote talk will be given by our alumna Dr Rosemary Francis FREng, who will discuss 'How energy is going to define the technology breakthroughs of tomorrow'. Dr Francis completed her PhD in Computer Architecture here in the Department, and has spent much of her career in high-performance computing and data analytics. An entrepreneur, in 2010 she founded Ellexus, the I/O profiling company. It was acquired by Altair in 2020 where she subsequently spent four years as Chief Scientist for High Performance Computing. She is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and regularly advises start-up companies.

Registration for the conference is now open, and is completely free. Please see the full conference programme, and how to register, here. Please register by 28th March.
