Department of Computer Science and Technology

We really enjoyed welcoming would-be undergraduates into the Department on the Open Days on Thursday 7 and Friday 8 July 2022.

Offering an admissions talk, tours, a sample lecture and the chance to ask questions about studying here, the Computer Science Open Days were aimed at prospective applicants.

They took place as part of the wider, hybrid University Open Days that additionally offered opportunities to visit the colleges and find out about student life and finance.

The Open Days gave Year 12 students the chance to visit the Department either virtually or in-person and find out about the Computer Science course (or Tripos, as it’s called here) and the application process.

Running up to the Open Days, the University ran general information sessions - Warm-Up Webinars - online. These included topics such as student finance, student life, studying at Cambridge as a mature student and studying here as an international student.

On the Open Days, visitors were able to hear the Computer Science admissions talk explaining the admissions process, the structure of the Computer Science Tripos, the projects students undertake at different stages of the Tripos, and the skills they learn along the way. Visitors could also hear a sample lecture online, to get a flavour of the learning here.

The next Open Days will be in September 2022. See details here

For those unable to attend an open day, please see our Admissions Information. The current admissions brochure is available. You may also be interested in the example pathways which show how students with different specialisms or interests could progress through the course.
