Promotion to Professor (Grade 12) requires achievement in Research and Research leadership, Teaching and Researcher Development, and Service to the University and to the Academic Community.
Checklist of what to include in your reference:
- Your evaluation of the applicant against the criteria.
- If possible a comparason of the applicant against others at a similar career stage in their area of research.
- For the most accurate and fair outcome for candidates, please make specific use of the relevant performance descriptors in your response. These are ‘outstanding evidence’ (the highest standard for promotion), ‘strong evidence’, ‘clear evidence’, ‘insufficient evidence’, and ‘clearly unsatisfactory’ (the lowest standard).
- A confidentiality statement. We ask that you indicate whether or not you consent for your reference to be shared with the applicant, should they request it.
The Department of Computer Science and Technology is a Department within the School of Technology. The School of Technology local Indicators of Excellence are in addition to the more generic Indicators of Excellence at University level set out in the guidance for referees. Information relating to "Research and Research Leadership" for Professor (Grade 12) can be found on page 1 and the top of page 2. Information relating to "Teaching and Researcher Development" and "Service to the University and Academic Community" starts on page 4. These Assessment Criteria relate to both Professor (Grade 11) and Professor (Grade 12) applications.
