Robert Watson and Jonathan Anderson, PhD students at the Computer Laboratory, and Ben Laurie and Kris Kennaway of Google UK Ltd, have won the Best Student Paper award at USENIX Security ’10 for ‘ Capsicum: Practical Capabilities for UNIX ’. The research was sponsored by Google.

Professor Andy Hopper has received an honorary doctorate - DSc (Eng) - from Queen's University, Belfast, for services to information technology and business and commerce.

Dr Simon Moore , Reader in Computer Architecture, has been awarded one of the University's prestigious Pilkington Prizes for excellence in teaching .

Ian Leslie , the Robert Sansom Professor of Computer Science, has been elected a Fellow of The Royal Academy of Engineering. The Academy’s Fellowiship honours the UK’s most distinguished engineers.

The University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory has become the only university outside the US to receive a Google Focused Research Award.
