As with so many enterprises around the world, the AI in Africa project has been suspended in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Helen and Alan have returned to Cambridge, after a state of emergency was declared in Namibia, and the UK Foreign Office advised all travellers to return to the UK if possible.

The coordination and fundraising acivity of Cambridge Global Challenges is now focused on ensuring that research responding to COVID-19 is also able to protect and serve those in low and middle income countries.

We hope that some elements of the AI in Africa research agenda will be revived in the coming months or years. Our sponsors have generously agreed to extend the end dates of project grants to help enable this.
