Congratulations to Prof Cecilia Mascolo who was today named a 2024 ACM Distinguished Member, an accolade that recognises "significant achievements in computing beyond the norm".

Many congratulations to our colleague Dr Sue Sentance, Director of the Raspberry Pi Computing Education Research Centre here. She has just been awarded the BCS Lovelace Medal 2024.

Many congratulations to Sir Demis Hassabis, the first of our alumni to receive a Nobel Prize. The 2024 Prize for Chemistry is awarded jointly to him and his Google DeepMind colleague John Jumper "for protein structure prediction" with their AI model AlphaFold2.

Arm has been named Company of the Year in our annual Hall of Fame Awards — a celebration of the companies set up by students, staff and alumni of this Department.

Student projects on better ways to write music, improving supply chain resilience and sourcing second hand electronic components were winners of the Group Design Project Awards 2024.

Many congratulations to Cecilia Mascolo, Professor of Mobile Systems, for winning an ERC Proof of Concept grant to further her work on developing in-ear devices for health monitoring.

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has honoured a researcher here for her work on the efficient use of cloud resources for data stream processing.

A former PhD student here has won the ACM SIGMOBILE Doctoral Dissertation Runner-up Award for his research into the use of wearable devices for health monitoring.

Prof Anil Madhavapeddy and several Department alumni were among those recognised today by the Association for Computing Machinery for their work on developing the functional programming language OCaml.

Six of our colleagues have been promoted as Professor in recognition of their outstanding achievements.
